Brian Bowers is a retired federal law enforcement officer, veteran, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. He became familiar with a variety of weapon systems and tactics while serving on a small, specialized recon team at Fort Bragg, tasked with conducting clandestine, long-duration surveillance and reconnaissance operations in hostile areas to gather actionable intelligence. He completed his military service and pursued a career in federal law enforcement, where he served as a physical tactics, search and seizure, and firearms instructor for his agency and at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Brian holds instructor certifications in active shooter response, trauma management, firearms, and physical tactics from FLETC; and SWAT certification through the North American SWAT Training Association. He is also a certified instructor in self-defense law under Attorney Andrew Branca, the nation's premiere self-defense attorney and consultant.
Having personally used self-defense techniques to protect his life, Brian passionately advocates for citizens and law enforcement officers to build comprehensive self-defense capabilities through education, physical tactics, and firearms proficiency.
Brian remains deeply committed to law enforcement training as Lead Instructor for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association 111 Project, a non-profit dedicated to protecting personnel through support, education, training, and information sharing—particularly by promoting jiu-jitsu.
Brian leverages his education, a Masters Degree in Business Management, and two decades of teaching experience to integrate cutting-edge research from psychology, neuroscience, social science, and health science to enhance learning and skill acquisition.
Brian is also a Certified Strength Coach (NCSF), former powerlifting champion and deadlift state record holder, and a member of the United States Registry of Exercise Professionals (USREPS). Having coached a current state record holder, he leverages this hands-on experience to build functional strength that enhances survivability in self-defense encounters and optimizes force generation for real-world application.
